Dúvugarðar - Saksun Heritage Farm

Step into history in the Heritage Farm of Dúvugarðar dating back to the 18th century.

Visit Dúvugarðar museum and Haldhús souvenir shop, which sells locally handmade souvenirs. Enjoy a light meal and a hot coffee at the Outdoor Café. Walk the history trails up to the waterfall and the best Instagram hotspots in Saksun.

The Dúvugarðar museum and park are part of the largest farm in the Faroe Islands, which supports a flock of about 700 sheep on 2.500 hectares/6.200 acres. The farm is run by a modern farming family that works and lives in Saksun all year round. To them, the village of Saksun is more than a beautiful place—it is their home.

In 2024 the local farmer family started a project to restore the old heritage farm of Dúvugarðar. It is an ongoing restoration and preservation of the entire farm. The ambition is to bring back the true spirit of a farmer's lifestyle in the 18th century and allow you to experience it.

You're welcome to follow the transformation and everyday life in Dúvugarðar on Facebook, Instagram and their website. Here you can see the ongoing transformation that is being done with your help. By visiting Dúvugarðar, you are bringing history back to life.
