Hiking ON SANDOY

Hiking is a great way to experience our beautiful nature. You don’t have to go far to experience our magnificent and breathtaking nature. Below this article, we have a selection of guided hikes that provide you with local knowledge and storytelling.

IMPORTANT

We recommend going with a local guide to ensure your safety and to give you the best experience.

Remember to ask permission if your hike is not on a marked path. Under Faroese legislation, you cannot wander freely in the wilderness. If other arrangements have not been made, you can only walk on the old village paths.

If you go with a local guide, the guide will ensure you have the necessary permission.

If you hike alone, please let someone in the village know you’re going. We recommend this for safety reasons and to avoid you getting in the middle of, e.g., sheepherding or hare hunting (November 2nd to December 31st).

Please take a look at the guide to safe hiking before your hike.
