Welcome to the second Sandoy Half Marathon!
Come join the half marathon in Sandoy – walk or run, the choice is yours! Here on the site, you will also find information about the interesting places to see along the route.
At Pentecost, on 23 May 2026, the Sandoy Half Marathon will take place again, organized by the newly established running club TINDAR, ALT Events, and B71.
About Sandoy, the writer Heðin Brú wrote that it was “the maiden among the islands of the Faroe Islands,” and that it seemed as if the Creator had just come from a gathering of women when shaping the island. These distinctive plains and low mountains are characteristic features of Sandoy.
Last year’s half marathon routes took full advantage of the beautiful surroundings and the special experience of running or walking here in the southern island.
After the event ended, work immediately began on evaluating and planning the half marathon for the coming year. Again this year there will be three routes, but with the adjustments that were recommended. Because of this, we expect the upcoming event to attract even more participants than last year.
As in previous years, there will be bouncy castles, snacks, music, and much more on the program.
This year it will also be possible to purchase shirts with the event logo.
The participation fee is 520 DKK for the half marathon distance and 420 DKK for the shorter routes. Children under 14 years pay 260 DKK, and children below school age participate for free. Tickets can be purchased at Sandoy Hálvmarathon 2026
All participants receive a race number, fruit, and water along the entire route, as well as refreshments at the finish line, where everyone will receive a special medal, and entertainment will be organized after the race.
We look forward to welcoming you all to Sandoy for a pleasant and fun half marathon day in uniquely beautiful and historic surroundings.
