Heimablídni at Tummas Frank & Elisabeth's in Skúvoy
At Tummas Frank and Elisabeth's you always feel at home. Tummas Frank is from Skúvoy, and Elisabeth has lived there for over 40 years. They are pensioners, and have chosen to welcome tourists to Skúvoy in their free time, and enjoy hosting guests, and showing them around in Skúvoy. They offer lunchpacks, breakfast, lunch and dinner, and also tours and bed and breakfast in their humble home.
MENU
They offer traditional faroese food and everything is homemade. They are not too experienced with vegetarian/vegan food, but perhaps we can find a solution together, if needed. This is what they offer:
Breakfast: Homemade bread, buns, egg, herring, cheese, jam and other faroese cold cuts.
Lunch and cold buffet: Homemade ryebread, drýlur (traditional faroese loaf), rolled lamb sausage, and other faroese cold cuts, paté, coffee and home baked cakes. The cold buffet is a traditional Faroese table with bread and a lot of different local food to accompany the bread. The lunch is more simple.
Dinner with coffee: Usually some kind of steak is served for dinner with potatoes, vegetables, gravy for desert: coffee and homemade cake.
Village tour
Skúvoy is a very intersting village, and even more interesting when you have your own local guide with you. On the village tour with Tummas Frank, you will hear the history of the village, about Sigmund Brestisson a Faroese Viking chieftain born in Skúvoy, and was responsible for introducing Christianity to the Faroe Islands in 999, about the church and you will also take a look at the small puffin colony by the village. But be sure always to follow the path and signs in order to respect the wildlife.
