Culture Night began on a small scale in 2001

Culture Night (Mentanarnáttin) began on a small scale in 2001 and has gradually developed into what it is today.

Visit Tórshavn is responsible for organizing Culture Night.

This is the day when shops, businesses, associations, and institutions open their doors to the public and host various unique events to stimulate the city’s cultural scene. Live music is a key feature of Culture Night, both indoors and outdoors. Almost everywhere in the city, you can hear music. Museums are open, restaurants and hotels go all out, and shops extend their opening hours.
