Vestmanna Sea Cliffs

Enjoy the beautiful Vestmanna Sea Cliffs boat tour, a visit to Kvívík and Leynar

Vestmanna Bird Cliffs & West Coast Villages – Small Group Tour

Join us for a magical day exploring towering sea cliffs, nesting puffins, and historic Faroese villages. This small group tour begins in Tórshavn and takes you to some of the wildest and most beautiful corners of the Faroe Islands.

Vestmannabjørgini – Puffins, Cliffs & Sea Caves
Pick-up begins at 09:00 in Tórshavn. From Vestmanna harbor, we set out on a 2-hour boat trip along the towering bird cliffs. Puffins flutter overhead, guillemots cry out from ledges, and curious seals pop up beside the boat. You may spot puffins diving and surfacing with beaks full of fish before flying up to their cliffside burrows, perched as high as 600 meters.

We sail between dramatic basalt columns and explore deep sea caves, shaped by millennia of crashing waves. Your guide will share stories of storm-struck ships, sheltering sailors, and pirate raids that once plagued this remote coastline.

Leynar – Beach Views & Sunny Slopes
After the boat trip, we head to the village of Leynar, home to one of the few white sand beaches in the Faroes. Nestled on a hillside, Leynar looks out across the sea to Koltur, Vágar, and Kvívík. On sunny days, Leynar's beach fills with families and swimmers, and after rain, wild salmon can often be seen leaping up the river steps in Leynar’s stream.

Kvívík – One of the Oldest Settlements
Our final stop is the historic village of Kvívík, believed to be among the first settlements in the Faroes. Here, archaeologists uncovered two Viking longhouses over 1,000 years old. The village’s location—close to the sea, with good farmland and fresh water—made it ideal for early settlers.

Stórá River runs through the heart of the village, powering municipal buildings and offering postcard-perfect views. From Kvívík’s hillside homes, you’ll see across to Vágar, Koltur, Sandoy, and Hestur.

This full-day small group experience is perfect for nature lovers, photographers, and history buffs. With expert local guidance and flexible itinerary, it offers unforgettable encounters with Faroese wildlife and village life.
