The name ‘Mølin’ translates to ‘the pebble covered beach’, yes, we do have a specific word for pebble covered beaches, and it is as simple as ‘Møl’, and this guesthouse is situated in a part of the village of Skálavík called Mølin, hence the name.
The guesthouse has 10 modern rooms each around 22 square meters in size, with a double bed, sofa bed and bathroom. The last room is a bigger family room with a small kitchen and a bunk bed aswell.
The guesthouse is part of a four generation commercial enterprice since 1889, that has changed throughout the years from e.g. shop, post office, sale of spirits and beer storage for Føroya Bjór. The founder of the enterprice was the great grandfather of the current owner, Birita Dalsgaard. The guesthouse and the next door cafe, is therefore an authentic experience of the commercial history of Skálavík.
The guesthouse opened in the summer of 2021, as and extention of their business, as owners of the next door café ‘Mølin Café’.
