An authentic and raw glimpses of the Faroese traditional and modern fishing history through art, old rowing boats, fishing tools, local stories and fresh fish.
The tour starts down at the Boat and Art Museum at the maritime harbour of Leirvík. Here you will see several traditional rowing boats which all have their own personal and fascinating story. We’ll revisit an seemingly forgotten age, where the sinker, handline, longline, fishingbox, fishinghook and oar were a necessity for surviving on the islands.
Upstairs in the old drying house the Boat and Art Museum offers a unique collection of paintings by the international recognized impressionist, Jóannis Kristiansen, and a lovely view over the martime harbour.
Afterwards we will visit the local fish-factory, Norðfra. We will taste, touch and embrace some of the finest seafood which the Faroes have to offer. A delightful fish soup and some kodak moments with a stylish sou’wester will also be a part of the evening..
